Hello Teacher Time To Go Families,
As we head back to school, I wanted to share a few simple reminders that I think can make a big difference in helping kids start the year feeling confident:
1. Let them know they don’t have to have it all figured out on Day 1.
New teachers, classmates, schedules, and expectations can feel like a lot. Remind your child that it’s completely normal to need a few weeks to settle in. A great school year is built one day at a time..
2. Don’t ask about grades right away.
For the first few weeks, try asking, “What was one thing that went well today?” or “What’s something you figured out today?” It helps kids focus on growth and small wins instead of immediately feeling pressure about performance.
3. Remind them of something they’ve already overcome.
If your child says, “I’m not good at math,” or “This class is going to be too hard,” remind them of a time when something else felt difficult at first—and how much easier it became with practice. Kids sometimes need us to remind them of what they’re capable of.
Here’s to a happy, confident start to the new school year!
