I may be a little biased but it is officially my favorite week of the year! Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. The weather is nice and cool, we gather with all of our loved ones, and get to celebrate with FOOD! Yum!
Usually, Thanksgiving is also followed by a long weekend filled with shopping, leftovers, and extra family time. Here are some fun activities to keep the kiddos busy and bond with the family!
Thankful Turkey
This “Thankful Turkey” activity can be used for any age. Have a conversation with your littlest one while they color about what they are thankful for, have your school-aged children write in words, or have your artistic child cut it out and glue it to a separate sheet of colorful construction paper.

Board games & Puzzles
Games and puzzles are great screen-free options to bring the whole family together! My 3 year old just learned how to play Jenga. Such a fun fine motor and critical thinking activity. A good old fashion board game, or card game is also a fun learning experience.
Chopped @ Home
“Chopped” is a fun tv show on the Food Network that surprises its contestants with random food items that they have to somehow mix together. Have an older child or one who loves to cook? Thanksgiving leftovers are a great source for some “mystery baskets!” You can find a ton of ideas online for combinations and printable scorecards to make it into a competitive family affair.
Budget Battle
Does your family typically take advantage of the post-holiday sales? Make it into a budgeting lesson, or activity. You can challenge your child, or team up with a family member to see who can get the best bang for their buck! It’s also a fun way to get some holiday gift shopping done. In the past, we have gone to a local superstore, teamed up in pairs with a $20 budget, and had a time limit to see who could come up with the most creative cart! Your child not only learns the value of money but how to stick to a budget. You could even make this an online shopping version if you aren’t ready to battle the crowds.
Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!
