Are you struggling to help your child stay organized and focused? Are you interested in learning about what Executive Functioning is and how you can best support your child? Our team is here to help! Read below to understand our process and how we can asses and help with strategies for success.
Executive Functioning can best be understood as the skills we need to manage daily life. At TT2G, we focus on 8 essential skills. Each of these are interrelated and connected in some way. There is no specific order in which these should be taught or mastered but it is important to understand the most appropriate starting point to maximize instruction and success.
As the owner of Teacher Time To Go I wanted to find the most straightforward process to assess and evaluate students needs. After much research, I learned about the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Functioning (BRIEF). I went through their training in the administrative process and received the credentials to be able to successfully evaluate students. The BRIEF is a three-part process that helps to identify Executive Functioning Challenges and provides immediate intervention recommendations.
1. Family Consultation
Prior to the student assessment, families will be emailed a set of “standardized questions” as well as a few “short answer questions” to complete. This will help provide detailed background information. After receiving the questionnaire, we will reach out to schedule a Student Assessment date.
2. Student Assessment
Our owner meets individually with each student. The BRIEF2 Self-Report Form is a 55-item standardized self-report measure developed to capture children’s and adolescents’ views of their own executive functions in their everyday environment. It typically takes about 45 minutes to assess.
3. Family Results Meeting
After reviewing the family data and student results, our owner Jenn personally creates a report that highlights each of the 8 Executive Functioning areas. The report details the child’s scores in each area and includes specific recommendations for intervention and support. The results meeting is conducted via Zoom and lasts approximately an hour. The family receives all data, results, and meeting notes.
Next Steps
As the owner, I complete the entire process start to finish and am with you every step of the way in deciding how to proceed after the evaluation.
The cost of the entire evaluation process is currently $325 which includes the full report, presentation and accommodation recommendations.
