Can you believe it? Valentine’s Day is here already! Valentine’s Day is not just a time for couples or for students to exchange cards and candy with friends at school. It should also be a time to show your family how much you love them. You can start with the obvious and make some cute valentines for your kids and spouse or you can turn it up a notch and make a whole day out of it. Gather your family up and brainstorm some things you would love to do. Then get to it! Here are some suggestions the whole family might like.
Food
Start with a Valentine’s Day inspired breakfast. A pink smoothie, strawberry milk or juice would be a good place to begin. You could turn those pancakes into strawberry pancakes or make some heart shaped waffles. You could even try making heart shaped breakfast pizzas and let your children get creative with the toppings-cinnamon sugar, whipped cream, chocolate chips, pink and red sprinkles…whatever their heart desires! After breakfast, do something fun together. Play some games, watch a favorite movie or make some crafts to decorate the house.
Fun
Try giant tic-tac-toe! You’ll need some washi tape to make the board and some x and o balloons which you can order from Oh Happy Day: https://shop.ohhappyday.com/products/16-gold-foil-balloons. Then play as normal just with some added movement since it’s on a giant scale!
If you want a game better suited to work on fine motor skills and memory then check out this matching game from Creations By Kara: https://www.creationsbykara.com/valentines-day-matching-game-free-printable/. You’ll need some Hershey Kisses, printable dots and glue. Or if you have stickers you can stick matching pairs to the bottoms of the chocolates. The best part is that when you find two chocolates with the same sticker on the bottom, you get to eat the match!
Food, fun, family. What more could you ask for on Valentine’s Day? We hope these ideas inspire you to celebrate with those you love.
