With the start of the new school year comes new routines.  One routine that is easy to implement (with the right ideas) is that of a smooth start to the day with breakfast leading the way.

There is nothing more satisfying then having a plan that appeases your kids (and makes your life easier).  In this back to school edition of healthy breakfast ideas, we’ll share favorites from some of our clients and tips for what works for them!

  1. Weekly Breakfast Menu

The first suggestion we have is to create a breakfast menu with your kids.  This can be done weekly, monthly, etc. Whatever works for you and your family.  The idea is this – to come up with a plan at the start, and stick with it!  Together, with your family discuss different ideas and create a list for food shopping.  This then gets posted on the fridge (or somewhere everyone can see it) and used for accountability.  This is an example of a weekly breakfast menu – but certainly can be adapted for you!

  1. Three-Ingredient Ideas

When the morning rush hits, it’s nice to have ideas that are quick, easy, and include ingredients you likely already have in your house.  These three-ingredient breakfast ideas are healthy and will keep your kids fueled up for the day.  Choose a few that you know your kids will enjoy and ensure that you have those items on hand.  Post this somewhere in the kitchen and have your child pick their breakfast the night before.  This WILL work : )

  1. Prep Ahead Ideas

If your family enjoys eggs, this one is for you!  All you need is a muffin/cupcake tin!  Scramble up a dozen eggs, add some milk and salt/pepper to taste, and pour evenly into the tins.  Add whatever fillings your kids like, and bake at 350 degrees for approximately 25 minutes (or until done). When they are cool, store them in a plastic container in the fridge.  In the morning, pop one or two into the microwave for 30 seconds and they are good to go!  Be sure to make enough to last for several mornings. Healthy tip: sneak in an assortment of veggies—your kids may not even know they are in there!

  1. Breakfast Toasts!

One of our favorites is breakfast toast arrangements!  You can legitimately add anything and use whatever bread your family likes.  This can be modified to naan, rice cakes, English muffins, etc.!  Here are some ideas, but the options are ENDLESS!  These make for a super quick and nutritious breakfast on the go!

Have a healthy breakfast the kids like?  We’d LOVE to hear from you!
