Happy Passover to all that celebrate.  Matzo, matzah, or matza is an unleavened flatbread that is part of Jewish cuisine and forms an integral element of the Passover festival, during which chametz is forbidden.  Matzah is a hard, cracker-like bread made from a dough of only flour and water which has not been allowed to rise. It is eaten throughout the eight days of Passover and specifically during the Seder. Matzah must be made from one of five grains: wheat, rye, oats, barley and spelt. We are officially half way through Passover so I thought I’d share some kid-friendly matzah recipes.  You probably have all of these ingredients in your house.

         Regardless of your religion and traditions, these are all amazing, creative, and will be delicious!  Enjoy!

  1. Matzo Nachos – gear up for “taco Tuesday” with these easy nachos.  On a skillet or a cookie tray, arrange your matzo into two sheets.  Load on your favorite toppings: cheese, jalepenos, chicken, etc!  Bake on 350 until cheese is melted.  Add sour cream and guac after cooking!
  2. Matzo Pizza – choose your favorite cheese (I like ricotta as the base) and sauce, and add your top choices.  Veggies, any cheese, pepperoni, ANYTHING, will work!  Bake on 400 for 10 minutes!
  3. Matzo “fries” – break the matzo into pieces and dip in melted butter.  Mix together sugar and cinnamon and dip in butter to sick.  Bake 410 for 8 minutes.
  4. Matzo Smores – all you need marshmellows, chocolate bars, and matzo.  Toast the marshmellow and add to your matzo.  DELICIOUS
