Here we are…the first MAJOR storm in years. We know the saying, “The days are long, but the years are short.” BUT lets be honest, they feel ESPECIALLY long during a hunkered down snow day. With schools cancelled and everyone indoors, we made a flexible, kid-friendly plan for the snow day!
This schedule is meant to guide the day and create a sense of normalcy, not control it. Adjust times as needed and skip anything that isn’t working.
Morning
8:00–9:00 | Wake Up & Breakfast
Slow start, pajamas encouraged. Talk about the weather and the plan for the day.
9:00–9:30 | Morning Movement
Obstacle course, dance party, yoga, or fitness challenges.
9:30–10:30 | Creative / Build Time
LEGO, drawing, crafts, cardboard builds, or writing stories.
Midday
10:30–11:00 | Snack + Free Play
Independent play, puzzles, or reading.
11:00–12:00 | Learning Through Play
Weather activities, board games, journaling, or light math/reading games.
12:00–1:00 | Lunch + Help in the Kitchen
Kids help prepare lunch and clean up.
Afternoon
1:00–2:00 | Quiet Time
Reading, audiobooks, drawing, or rest time.
2:00–3:00 | Screen Time Block
Educational games, a show, or creative apps.
3:00–3:30 | Afternoon Movement
Indoor games, balloon volleyball, or stretching.
3:30–4:30 | Project or Free Choice Time
Finish a project, invent a game, or play independently.
Evening
4:30–5:30 | Family Time
Board games, puzzles, or cooking together.
5:30–6:30 | Dinner
Share highlights from the day.
6:30–7:30 | Family Movie or Read-Aloud
Get cozy with blankets and snacks.
7:30 | Bedtime Routine

These cooped up chaotic days create core memories to last a lifetime!
