Here at TT2G we are big into many things: philly sports, reading, and holidays!  We have combined our love for 2 of these and created the ultimate holiday book guide for our favorite children’s holiday books.  We were extremely mindful of highlighting books across all religious backgrounds! Here is the next in of our series: Kwanzaa Favorites!

Please help your kids become accustomed to other traditions and appreciate all the word has to offer : )

Li’L Rabbit’s Kwanzaa by Donna Washington

This book is inspired by the original Brer Rabbit story. Li’l Rabbit isn’t having a good Kwanzaa this year. As he tries to fix everything himself, he learns that things are most easily made better when you accept the help of friends and family.

My First Kwanzaa by Karen Katz

This is a wonderful but simple picture book that will introduce even the youngest of book lovers to the seven days of Kwanzaa. This book is in the same style as Karen Katz’s other My First Holiday board books.

Seven Spools of Thread: A Kwanzaa Story by Angela Shelf Medearis

This book teaches the principles of Kwanzaa through parable form. Seven brothers in an African village are fighting too much. The brothers face the challenge of transforming seven spools of thread into gold after their father dies.

Together for Kwanzaa by Juwanda Ford

This picture book story will help young readers learn about the traditions and practices of Kwanzaa. Kayla is worried her brother Khari will miss Kwanzaa which is her favorite time of year. Your children will see what happens when a big snowstorm gets in the way.

While there are hundreds more amazing holiday books, these are some of our favorites.  Tune in next year for more classics to add to your list and library!

Have a favorite Kwanzaa book or series?  We’d LOVE to hear about it!
